Intermittent Steering Bind – Column Lock & Pinch Bolt Checks

Intermittent steering bind is one of the most frustrating complaints because it never shows up on the lift. The wheel catches or locks for a fraction of a turn, then frees itself, and by the time the car reaches the shop, everything feels normal. Most intermittent bind traces back to the steering column itself: a worn universal joint, a loose pinch bolt, or an electronic column lock that does not release cleanly.

Fluid Inside the Boot but Dry Outside – Internal Rack Seal Failure

Fluid Found in the Radiator Cooler – Contamination Paths

Finding a slimy, oily film inside the radiator overflow or a muddy brown coating in the radiator tank usually sends shops checking transmission lines first, but on FWD cars it can also be the power steering system, since the return line often runs through a small cooler built into the radiator tank. When that internal cooler tube cracks, the two fluids start trading places, and the contamination path is not always obvious at first glance.
